Dr. Ivan Torres Lima Jr. is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering with tenure and Online Coordinator in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo, ND, USA, where he has been a full-time faculty member since 2003. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Photonics) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Baltimore, MD, USA in 2003. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of North Dakota, USA. He authored or coauthored 54 archival journal papers, 96 conference papers and presentations, 3 book chapters, 1 U.S. patent, 1 U.S. patent application, and 1 provisional U.S. patent. His publications received 1741 citations (Google Scholar by 07/30/2026). He is a Senior Member of the IEEE Photonics Society, a Senior Member of Optica: Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide, and a Senior Member of SPIE: The international society for optics and photonics. He is also a and an Associate Member of the Sigma Xi:The Scientific Honor Society and a Member of the Editorial Board of the journal Micromachines. His teaching and research interests include biomedical signal processing, bioelectronics, electronics, communication circuits, circuit analysis, and stochastic processes.
